CHAPTER 6: IMPORTING, EXPORTING, AND DIGITAL CUT ■
Exporting OMFI and AAF Compositions and Media
Let’s see how you can export AAF and OMFI files
First, click the Options button, and the Export Options window appears. Select
your format in the Save As pull-down menu (see Figure 6.22). You can choose between
OMFI 1.0, OMFI 2.0, and AAF. The types of options for each format are exactly the
same, so you’re just determining which type of interchange file will be created.

The next tasks are to select what you want to export to the interchange format
and to determine how it will be exported.
Export an OMFI or AAF File with Links to the Current Media Choosing this method
creates a composition file that has links to the media that is already on your system. If
you choose this method and send this file to another system, the application that uses it
has to be able to recapture the media to bring it online. Compositions are very small
files, so this method is great for sending through Ethernet or small media drives.
Copy Media and Link to Copied Media This method allows you to make copies of the
media on another drive and create a composition with links to that media in its new
location.
