CHAPTER 4: THE TIMELINE ■
Unlocking works much the same way:
1. Click the track to be unlocked.
2. Select Clip > Unlock Track.
3. The track is unlocked.
These choices to lock and unlock tracks are also available in a contextual menu:
Park your cursor over the Timeline and (Windows) right-click or (Mac) Ctrl+Shift-click
to reveal commands for adding tracks.
Adding Video Tracks
With Free DV, you can create one or two video tracks. Xpress Pro allows for the cre-
ation of up to 24 tracks. To add a video track, do the following:
1. Click the Record monitor, making the sequence active.
2. Press Ctrl+Y / F+Y or select Clip > New Video track from the menu (see
Figure 4.12).
If the New Video Track is grayed-out, you either are out of video tracks or a
sequence has not been loaded into the monitor, so no tracks can be added. If you try
to create a new video track and none is available, you will receive a message that the
maximum number of tracks has been reached (see Figure 4.13).
